RENEWAL featured in Humane Society of the United States’  All Creatures Great and Small Campaign

Summer, 2008 - National

The Humane Society of the United States has launched All Creatures Great and Small, a campaign of Animals & Religion, aimed to raise awareness about our responsibilities to all animals including those raised for food.  And RENEWAL is being used as an important part of it.

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest and most effective animal protection organization. Backed by 10 million Americans, it is America's mainstream force against animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect.  Seeking a humane and sustainable world for all animals—including people—the HSUS is a powerful advocate for the human-animal bond.

In recent decades, with the rise of factory farming, animals are increasingly subjected to great cruelty and suffering. This campaign will help people understand that eating is an activity that has moral and spiritual significance and that they can make important choices about how animals are treated.

On its website, All Creatures Great and Small  features a variety of resources designed for people to learn about the issues of food and faith, including statements about animals from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu traditions.

The RENEWAL Project is proud to be supporting this campaign. People who visit HSUS’s Muslim page will have a chance to see the entire “Food for Faith” story that is featured in RENEWAL.  Take a look and learn how Muslims in Illinois are using their faith to support the humane raising of animals to feed the Islamic communities in Chicago.
